The generic version of AUGMENTIN is AUGMENTIN® (amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium). AUGMENTIN is a combination of two antibiotics, amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium. Amoxicillin is a penicillin-type antibiotic that fights bacteria in the body. Clavulanate potassium is a beta-lactamase inhibitor. The brand name of AUGMENTIN is AUGMENTIN® (amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium).

Amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium is a beta-lactamase inhibitor. It prevents bacteria from producing beta-lactamase, which is responsible for producing the antibiotic amoxicillin. AUGMENTIN is indicated in the treatment of infections caused by bacteria sensitive to amoxicillin. It is also indicated in infections caused by bacteria that are resistant to other antibiotics. AUGMENTIN is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections that are caused by susceptible organisms, such as:

  • Respiratory tract infections, such as bronchitis (pneumonia)
  • Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
  • Skin infections

Side Effects

The most common side effects of AUGMENTIN are diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. It is important to note that diarrhea caused by a lower pH of the gut (pH less than 7) or a more severe intestinal condition (such as bleeding or ulcers) is not a common side effect of AUGMENTIN. Diarrhea caused by a lower pH of the gut may also occur in patients who have received antibiotics within the last 14 days. Patients who experience serious or persistent diarrhea should stop taking AUGMENTIN and contact a doctor. In rare cases, the severe or fatal outcomes associated with diarrhea caused by AUGMENTIN have been reported.

The most common side effects of AUGMENTIN are diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Diarrhea and vomiting are also observed more frequently with brand name AUGMENTIN, and AUGMENTIN is metabolized by the liver and is excreted in the urine. Diarrhea and vomiting are serious side effects of AUGMENTIN and should be reported to a doctor immediately. In some rare cases, AUGMENTIN may cause liver problems, especially in patients with pre-existing liver disease. Patients with a history of liver problems should contact their doctor immediately if they experience symptoms of liver problems such as abdominal pain, fatigue, nausea, or yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes.

Augmentin 625mg Tablet is a combination of Amoxycillin and Clavulanic Acid, which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used to treat certain bacterial infections such as middle ear and sinus infections, sinus and middle ear infections, respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections (UTI), skin and soft tissue infections, including dental infections, and bone and joint infections. Do not take this medicine if you have or have had a history of hypersensitivity (swelling in the face or throat and skin rashes), liver conditions, or jaundice.

How to use Augmentin 625mg Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. If it contains some calcium, take it yourself: a) in the form of a pilllet (e.g.ailository, pill ball, or tablet) 2 or 3 times daily, if necessary, you may need to take it twice daily, or as directed by your doctor
